If you ask me what I should eat in Malaysia. I would say Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng, Laksa and so on. If you want to try a good Nasi Lemak. I suggest you to visit the “Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock”, it’s very close to the Petaling Street Marketing in Kuala Lumpur.

If you need more ideas, you can refer to the following food.

Kuala Lumpur:

  1. Nasi Lemak – This is a must try food I have to say.
  2. Char Kway Teow – My fav
  3. Roti Canai
  4. Satay
  5. Bak Kut Teh ( If you have time, you can take a GRAB from KL to Klang. About 1 hour from Kuala Lumpur to Klang. )

Malacca:

  1. Chicken Rice Balls
  2. Nyonya Laksa
  3. Satay Celup
  4. Cendol (Iced sweet dessert) – This one is really good, especially on a hot day in Malaysia.

Penang:

  1. Assam Laksa
  2. Char Koay Teow (this is my favorite) – similar to the one in Kuala Lumpur but with a Penang twist, the version in Penang usually includes duck egg.
  3. Hokkien Mee
  4. Nasi Kandar
  5. Penang Rojak – a mixed fruit and vegetable salad, with a sweet and spicy sauce made from shrimp paste and chili.

If you need more suggestions from Penang, I suggest you to visit myPenang!

There are many other delicious dishes to try in each of these cities, so be sure to explore and try as much as possible.

If you ever get the chance to visit Kuala Lumpur, you absolutely have to try the nasi lemak there. It’s a traditional Malaysian dish that’s just delicious. The rice is cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaves, and it’s served with fried anchovies, peanuts, cucumber, and spicy sambal sauce. It’s an absolute must-try!
